Vintage Tibetan Cabinet with Decorative Panels

This stunning vintage cabinet comes from Tibet and dates from the 1920s. It has recently been reconditioned in an artisan workshop in Beijing with a natural look wood finish, and some distressed effects. The front of the piece features 6 highly decorative panels containing ornate floral artwork. Each panel depicts stunning jade coloured foliage with three peony flowers, a buddhist symbol of nobility, loyalty, friendship and enduring love. These beautiful cabinets were traditionally decorated by Tibetan monks for their living quarters.

Overall, the artwork and vintage colouring of this piece give it an Arts & Crafts style. Throughout the mainframe subtle floral scrolling has been applied, accenting the colours in the main panels. Then again, a larger scroll on the apron at the bottom of the piece.

This stand-out cabinet has acres of storage space accessed through two sets of doors. Its ample proportions mean it works well in a number of spaces: as an entrance/office console, linen closet, or kitchen/dining room storage.
