Originating in the Shandong Province of Northern China in the 1940s, this desk has recently been reconditioned in an artisan workshop in Beijing.
The piece has been repainted in a rich black colour and then lightly distressed and rubbed back to reveal areas of a red undercoat and the wood beneath.
Very much like a bureau table, this desk has a relatively shallow depth, but broad worktop, making it a valuable addition to a home office or tight space. It also works well as a dressing table or entranceway console.
