This vintage cabinet comes from Dongbei Province in Northern China and dates from the 1920s. It has recently been reconditioned in an artisan workshop in Beijing. The distressed red finish is achieved by applying many layers and rubbing back areas between successive layers to reveal the dark undercoat beneath.
It has been fitted with a removable inner shelf in the main storage compartment and has three good-sized drawers at the top. We think the simple design and vibrant colour of this cabinet make it a beautiful addition to any kitchen, office, or bedroom.
