Dharma Bell 7 cm

The Dharma bell originates from Japan, where it is used in some Buddhist practices to accompany periods of meditation and chanting. It is played like the keizu bell, striking the edge with the mallet. At home, its clear and pristine sound invites you to practice full awareness, calm strong emotions and quiet the mind by following the rhythm of the breath.

Thich Nhat Hanh, a Zen Buddhist monk who founded Plum Village in France, used and recommended this type of bowl for practicing meditation. He used to say: “There is tranquility, peace and joy within us but we have to invoke them so that they can show up. Inviting the bell to sound is a way to invoke joy and tranquility within us. (...) I hold it in the palm of my hand and I breathe. I breathe in and calm my mind. I breathe out and smile”.

In relation to the practice of mindfulness, the famous Vietnamese monk also explained: “When I listen to the bell, I can feel how my sorrow begins to dissolve, my mind calms down, my body gets relaxed. A smile appears on my lips. Following the sound of the bell, my breathing takes me back to the safe island of mindfulness.”
