This medium, seated Buddha is composed of brass and made in China. The casting process carefully creates a beautiful and ornate statue with fine detail to the Buddha's robes and pedestal. The piece is finished with a delicate worn iron patina, giving it an aged appearance.
The Buddha holds his hands in Bhairava Mudra (Samyukta Hasta -the use of both hands) practiced by placing of the hands one above the other, and with the palms facing up. In addition, this Buddha holds the sacred temple in his hands. This mudra is said to bring a union between the two sides of the brain and the two energies (masculine and feminine). The temple represents the idea of the sacred that exists within all of us. This striking statue has a vintage feel and makes a beautiful addition to any home or business, either at the entranceway or in a quiet space.
