This vintage cupboard was made in Shanxi Province of Northern China and dates from the 1910s. It has recently been restored in an artisan workshop in the Beijing area. Its two doors are mounted on wooden hinges and underneath the doors sit four drawers, with a carved apron below those. The cupboard has been fitted with a hanging rail and two newly made removable shelves, allowing you to choose whether to use it for hanging clothes or as a shelved cupboard. It has been painted in layers of green/grey over a dark undercoat. It has been distressed to reveal some of the undercoat and elm wood, all of which gives the piece a beautifully patinated appearance. It has been finished with a high gloss varnish.
Materials: elm with brass fittings
Dimensions: 107(w) x 50(d) x 190(h) cm
