This vintage cabinet comes from Dongbei Province in Northern China and dates from around 1920. It has recently been reconditioned in an artisan workshop in Beijing, where it was repainted in this light steel blue. This item has two drawers and two doors.
The blue has been rubbed back to show areas of the dark undercoat and the original wood beneath. A removable shelf has been made to provide flexibility in how you can use the main storage compartment. The simple shape and muted colour make this a great piece for fitting into a wide range of decorative schemes, both contemporary and period.
