This rustic cabinet comes from Jiangsu near Shanghai in China and dates from circa 1920. The two upper doors and the corresponding side panels are constructed from fine pine latticework, opening onto a single storage compartment, which has two removable shelves. The middle section has two drawers and beneath that are two solid doors opening onto another storage compartment. The cabinet was originally used in the kitchen to store dishes and well-aired food supplies. Its beautifully distressed blue finish and the highly ornamental lattice make this cabinet a very special statement piece.
Material: pine with brass fittings
