Monohon Ramen at ROUGE
The popular Monohon Ramen is returning to ROUGE in June, welcoming summer with a new dish - Hiyashi Chuka - 冷やし中華.
Monohon Ramen founder Ian Wheatley sets it out:
You have to imagine you’re in Osaka, where it’s 27°C and over 90% humidity while I write this. This dish is a refreshingly chilled ramen salad, perfect for such a day!
We use the same thick, chewy noodles that are so popular in our abura-soba dish but served chilled, the texture is even firmer, the bite even better! They are topped with all sorts of summer ingredients like strips of cucumber, pepper, or slices of tomato, omelette and ham. Choose your toppings to make it 100% vegetarian or vegan compliant if you prefer! Finally, a tangy fresh sesame and soy-based dressing is added. Try it with some sharp Japanese mustard for a fabulous flavour balance!
Back in the beautiful setting of the ROUGE emporium in Stoke Newington, we’ll give a short introduction before allowing you to assemble your own dish.
This event will have 2 settings each day and is ticketed only.
