This Japanese cast iron teapot has a textured black exterior and a black gloss enameled inside.
Traditionally Japanese cast iron teapots symbolized the everlasting strength and unity of the world and the more intricate are often given as gifts and kept as status symbols. Through special treatments, impurities are removed from the cast iron during the production process. A coating of misty black enamel is then applied to help prevent the formation of rust.
It holds approximately 1.2 L and has a stainless steel removable leaf trap. It comes complete with a matching cast iron trivet. There is a pair of matching black cast iron teacups available from Rouge to mix and match with this teapot. They are from the range of cast iron tableware by the German brand Ja-Unendlich.
