Course Clay Teacup 03 by Zhang Min

These charming little clay cups have been hand crafted in Jingdezhen, the renowned ceramics capital of China. They are part of a small range of designer tableware by artisan ceramicist Zhang Min.

Cups come in a number of individually painted patterns.

Each product is crafted in a simple style, using raw ore coarse pottery clay, sourced at Jingdezhen. The original method is to hand-knead the clay strips, paint them with an underglaze colour of blue and white, then apply a transparent grey glaze and finally fire them at a high temperature of 1300 degrees. All artwork is individually hand painted, so each piece is unique and special. Measurements vary slightly.

Zhang Min was born in Zhuzhou, Hunan in 1987. In 2007, he came to Jingdezhen Ceramics University to study ceramic design. After graduation, he stayed in Jingdezhen and made ceramics by himself.

Cup measurements: 6.3cm diameter x 5.3cm high
