This serene, Buddha head was hand-carved from a dark brownstone in China. This piece depicts a quiet, meditative buddha with short curly hair. This represents Prince Siddhartha and the story of how he cut off of his topknot, as an act of renunciation of his privileged past.
The noticeable bump on top of the head, known as the Ushnisha, represents the attainment of the Buddha’s enlightenment. The half-closed eyes show his state of meditation and the half-smile depicts the serenity and nobility of the Buddha.
These elegant little pieces are ideal for a devotional or wellness space, a small alter or window ledge to evoke a sense of calmness.
It is approximately 8cm in diameter and about 11.5cm high and weighs about 1.1kg.
