As part of the restoration, the piece was given a new removable inner shelf, making the storage compartment more flexible. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInterestingly this compact little cabinet is both petite and spacious providing more storage inside than first appears. Painted in a striking vermillion red  colour with a distressed overlay, the cabinet features a strong flurry of orange peonies and birds at play. Both the flowers and birds represent prosperity, good fortune and marital longevity in Chinese culture.
