This vintage Chinese cabinet was made in Shandong Province of Northern China and dates from the 1910s. It has three drawers at the top and a large main storage space beneath, which is accessible from two doors and divided horizontally by one removable shelf. Made from sturdy pieces of solid elm, this a surprisingly heavy piece for its size. It has been restored in an artisan workshop in rural Beijing and has been painted in a striking, distressed blue with black showing through from an undercoat.
Dimensions: 100(w) x 40(d) x 85(h) cm
Materials: elm with brass fittings
