This vintage, low, elmwood stool was made in Northern China and dates from the 1970s. Much like a European milk tool, this piece was made for domestic use but traditionally in China, it was used for seating around a low dining table.
These stools were handmade in rural areas and as such, each one has a wonderfully rustic feel and tells its own unique story.
With their neutral elm finish and petite dimensions, these versatile little pieces are the perfect for so many uses: as a plant pot stand, meditation seat or an ideal surface for a small devotional counter.
It has been lightly restored in an artisan Beijing workshop.
Dimensions: 32(w) x 12(d) x 14(h)cm
Material: Elm wood
