This unique looking table heralds from mid 19th Century and would originally have acted as a family's alter. Traditionally Chinese homes often featured altars as a focal point for ancestral veneration and religious practices. Though small, alters were central to daily life, serving as a place to make offerings, and perform rituals.
Made from elmwood, in a subtle grey/green with a beautifully hand carved apron to the front, these unusual pieces have an arts and crafts feel.
With its compact dimensions and slim profile this is an ideal piece for a hall or entranceway but also a perfect display solution in any room.
