This vintage Tibetan chest dates from the 1940s. It recently received very light restoration in an artisan workshop in Beijing.

This joyous and unique piece contains a wealth of original detail, including several original hand-painted panels, detailed leatherwork and metal spurs covering each edge. Beautiful paintwork panels depict a series of floral circles, featuring Peonies. These flowers symbolize nobility, loyalty, friendship and enduring love. In Tibetan Buddhist paintings they are companions to spiritual development.

This special trunk makes a warming and lively statement piece with bags of internal storage. Decorative artwork is seen across the trunk, with ornate ochre-colored scrolling detail surrounding each panel. This is ideal as a coffee or side table, a keep safe for treasured items, or equally at home by the end of a bed.

Dimensions: 90(w) x 60(d) x 52(h) cm
