Course Clay Cups with Ivy 02 by Zhang Min

This charming cup has been hand crafted in Jingdezhen, the renowned ceramics capital of China. They are part of a small range of designer tableware by artisan ceramicist Zhang Min.

These tactile and pretty cups have a hand painted ivy pattern all around. Cup pattern and shape may vary slightly as they are individually hand crafted & painted.

Each product is crafted in a simple style, using raw ore coarse pottery clay, sourced at Jingdezhen. The original method is to hand-knead the clay strips, paint them with an underglaze colour of blue and white, then apply a transparent grey glaze and finally fire them at a high temperature of 1300 degrees. All artwork is individually hand painted, so each piece is unique and special. Measurements vary slightly.

Zhang Min was born in Zhuzhou, Hunan in 1987. In 2007, he came to Jingdezhen Ceramics University to study ceramic design. After graduation, he stayed in Jingdezhen and made ceramics by himself.
