Course Clay Vase with Green Leaf 02 by Zhang Min

This charming little vase has been hand crafted in Jingdezhen, the renowned ceramics capital of China. They are part of a small range of designer tableware by artisan ceramicist Zhang Min.

This unique vase has a 4.5cm diameter wide opening and is hand painted with a calming green leaf design.

Each product is crafted in a simple style, using raw ore coarse pottery clay sourced at Jingdezhen. This course clay making the products hugely tactile. The original method is to hand-knead the clay strips, paint them with an underglaze colour of blue and white, then apply a transparent grey glaze and finally fire them at a high temperature of 1300 degrees. All artwork is individually hand painted, so each piece is unique and special. Measurements vary slightly.

Zhang Min was born in Zhuzhou, Hunan in 1987. In 2007, he came to Jingdezhen Ceramics University to study ceramic design. After graduation, he stayed in Jingdezhen and made ceramics by himself.
