In this 2.5-hour mending workshop, you’ll explore and learn two different hand-sewing methods inspired by Japanese Sashiko stitching and woven darning to repair your garments visibly.

You’ll be introduced to:

Sashiko, a technique to reinforce and patch torn and thinned-out denim by stitching geometrical patterns
Woven darning to repair moth-eaten holes in your jumpers or tears in your linen shirts
Different mending tools such as darning mushrooms, repair specific yarns and needles
A mindful and calming approach to caring for your clothes

You don’t need any prior sewing experience and all sewing equipment will be provided. Simply come as you are with what you like to bring, and together, we can dip into the art of slow stitching.

Nadien K. - Wild Clothes Alchemy was born from a desire to create a sense that each of us can contribute to positive change, a sense of value, and empowerment. With her work, Nadien wants to showcase the nuances of handmade, crafted for the individual, weaving together the history and memories of garments and fabrics. She connects people, and clothes in creative sewing workshops, and re-works garments from already existing materials to break the hegemony of sameness, challenging the system of fast fashion and helping people to work towards a more sustainable wardrobe.
