Lokta paper lampshade - long Japanese star raven

This pretty, handmade lampshade comes with a Japanese star pattern.
(wire and plug are not part of the set)

Our lampshades are sourced from paper specialist Tudi Billo. Their paper products are made from the bark of a special mulberry bush. The branches of the bush are harvested and bark is peeled off. Within the coming 3-5 years the bush then regrows.

The bark is then beaten and cooked until it becomes smooth. This pulp is “dissolved“ in a large water tank into which the screen is placed. The screen is slowly removed from the water – the sheet is ready –from there it is dried by having the screen exposed to sun light, resulting in these exquisite and made papers.
