In this visible mending workshop at Rouge, you’ll explore hand-sewing techniques on how to repair holes and torn parts in your jumpers, thinned-out sock heels, or how to cover a stain on your favourite linen shirt.
You’ll be introduced to:
- What mending technique and tools are right for the desired outcome of your garment repair
- Classic darning that gives a natural finish to the mend on your woven fabrics
- Scotch darning for elbow parts and sock heels
- Swiss darning to reinforce knitted socks when running thin
Please bring any damaged items you would like to discuss and work on during the session. Darning materials will be provided along with some refreshments and a warming cup of tea.
This in-depth session builds on the ‘Introduction of Visible Mending Workshop, but you don’t need any prior sewing experience to join.
