Vintage Grey Cabinet from Gansu with Lotus Flowers

This stunning, vintage, pine sideboard comes from the Northern Province of Gansu and dates from the 1920s. Two doors open onto a sizeable storage area into which a new removable shelf has been added as part of the reconditioning work done at an artisan workshop in Beijing.

This medium sized cabinet has two doors with brass handles accessing a generous internal space. As part of the restoration, the piece was given a new removable inner shelf, making the storage compartment more flexible. 

Painted in a subdued green grey with a distressed overlay. The piece has a wonderful central scene across the doors featuring a lotus flowers, emblematic of purity, love and beauty in Chinese culture. The piece also features a low front apron, giving it a distinctive appearance.

The overall look makes this a striking yet tasteful addition to any bedroom, dining room or even office space. These cabinets also work well in entrance halls or as smaller linen closets or bathroom storage.
