This wonderful vintage chest of drawers, made in elmwood, comes from Shandong Province in Northern China and dates from the 1920s. It has recently been reconditioned in an artisan workshop in Shandong. This vibrant yet vintage appearance is achieved by applying many layers of paint and rubbing back areas between successive layers to reveal the striking red undercoat beneath.
With three good sized drawers, this medium sized chest is gently tapered and stands proud of the floor on four feet. Its simple yet bohemian style makes this a noteworthy piece in any room. Works very well as additional bedroom , bathroom or living room storage. Works equally well as an office or nursery tidy chest.
