Step away from the pressures of conforming or disrupting, and discover the power of expression rooted in kindness. This workshop invites you to explore how sound, toning, and chanting can open up new ways of connecting with yourself and others, free from judgment or expectation. We’ll work together to find a natural flow of self-expression that nourishes the individual and the group alike.
In this intimate 60-minute session, we will:
1. Toning with the Heart:
Using elongated vowel sounds, supported by the gentle resonance of a shruti box, we'll create a circle, we’ll start by gently attuning our voices, then enter a heart-centered meditation to explore the power of toning as a means of self-expression. allow the vibrations of our hearts to guide the toning. The silence that follows each round of toning becomes a space of deep connection and reflection. This practice highlights how sound can be a direct reflection of our intentions and energies.
2. Chanting for Connection:
Rooted in the earth and guided by rhythm, we’ll come together in song. Using simple chants, drums, shakers, and rattles, you’ll be encouraged to explore your unique expression in a supportive environment. The emphasis is on kindness - to yourself and to others - as you experiment with variations in repetition, harmonies, or adding your own percussive sounds. The practice is about freedom, joy, and the unfolding discovery of your voice in a collective soundscape. Between rounds of chanting, we will check in with one another, adapting and encouraging new ways of expressing what’s on your heart.
Each session is a journey - an invitation to step into your voice, supported by community and the healing power of sound. This practice will encourage you to notice where you may hold back and empower you to move through those spaces with kindness and compassion.
